Nancy Gertrude Travers

EASTON - Nancy Gertrude (Major) Travers, 58, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was born Sept. 24, 1952, in Seaford, Del., the daughter of the late Edward Major Sr. and the late Gertrude (Holden-Major) Williams. Mrs. Travers was educated in the public school of Dorchester County. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, also she loved fishing. She was employed at the Hampton Inn in Easton until her health failed. She attended the local Cambridge Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by six children, Denisea (Curtis) Johnson, Victoria (Irvin) Rivers, Perry (Barbara) Major, Willie (Sheree) Jones, Julia (Jamarr) Matthews, Vicente (Keira) Travers; one stepson, Vicent Travers Jr.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aretta Pinkett and Dollene (George) Brown; four brothers, Frank (Gloria) Holden Sr., Edward (Josie Mae) Major Jr., Reginald (Freda) Major, Sylvester Major; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Travers Sr.; one brother, Samuel Lee Spruils; and two sisters, Gladys Johnson and Annette Major Taylor. A Memorial Service will be noon, Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Henry Funeral Home PA, 510 Washington St., Cambridge. Condolences sent to www.henryfuneralhomepa.com.
