Miriam B. Hughes

SALISBURY - Miriam B. Hughes, 98, of Salisbury, died Monday, July 4, 2016. Born in Kent County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Claude M. Blackiston and Pearl Fulkner Blackiston. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was on the Alter Guild. She was a past member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Historical Society, Pemberton Hall, Hospice and the Ward Foundation. She is survived by two sons, Don B. Hughes and Max Pete Hughes, Jr.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max P. Hughes Sr., in 1991; and a daughter, Marsha Richards, in 1979. A funeral service was held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Parsons Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.
