CAMBRIDGE - Minnie Elizabeth (Cooper) Johnson, 84, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a lengthy stay at Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Church Creek, on March 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Irving and Annie Augusta Cooper. She married Bernard William Johnson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1998.

At an early age, she became a Christian. She loved attending church functions, traveling and being with her family.

Mrs. Johnson was a 1941 graduate of Frederick Douglas St. Clair High School. She worked for Harper & Bateman Pickling Co. and Airpax among various other places of employment prior to retirement.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior choir. She was also a member of the Singing and Praying Band of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by four children, Robert (Camelia) Cooper, Norman (Darlene) Johnson and Bernice Johnson Perry, all of Cambridge and Teresa (Emanuel) Hitch of Baltimore; 11 grandchildren, Dondrill (Stacey) Johnson, Tenishia (Dock) Tillery, Latasha (Andre) Peters, Cantrell Johnson, Anikatiaa Ennals, Mykeyia Stanley, Lakeshia Dennard, Kiara Johnson, Kenosha Johnson, Ke-inya Berlin and Darius Berlin; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Cooper, Mildred Johnson and Lillian Perry, all of Cambridge; three brothers, Melvin Cooper and Harold Cooper, both of Cambridge and Otis Cooper of New York; an aunt, Louise Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Annette Johnson and Daisy Sampson; a brother-in-law, Otis Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A son, Kevin Johnson and two brothers-in-law, James Johnson and Carvel Perry preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, at Zion Baptist Church, 600 Cross St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Elder Craig Mathias is officiating and Min. Elsie Ennals, the Eulogist. Burial will follow in Gumswamp Cemetery at Church Creek.

Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA, Cambridge.
