PRINCESS ANNE - Mildred Isabella Widdowson, 87, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crisfield.
Born in Westover on Dec. 23, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Fred H. Johnson and Maggie Riggin Johnson. Her husband, Carlisle Widdowson, died Jan. 13, 1958.
She was a retired employee of the former Acme Markets in Pocomoke City and worked for many years at the Washington High School cafeteria prior to working at Acme. Mildred was a very devoted member of Greenhill Church of the Brethren in Westover. She loved quilting and spent many hours making quilts with the Ladies Aide Society of the church. She also made quilts for many family members, along with one for every grandchild. She loved gardening and listening to WOLC and other Christian music. Mildred was a former member of Manokin Chapter 109 OES.
She is survived by one son, Logan C. Widdowson and his wife, Julie, of Princess Anne; a daughter, Myrna W. Bozman and her husband, Herman, of Princess Anne; six grandchildren, C. Todd Widdowson and his wife, Kim, of Princess Anne, Anne M. Horner and her husband, Charles, of Westover, Julie B. Lankford and her husband, Hunter, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jill B. Stone and her husband, David, of Princess Anne, Maggie Widdowson of Annapolis and Mollie R. Widdowson of Westover; four great-grandchildren, Charlie Horner, Sydney and Cooper Stone and Sarah Lankford; and by several beloved sisters and brother-in-laws, cousins, many nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Ralph Johnson; and two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Hilda Liller.
A funeral service was held Saturday at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. The Rev. Steve Willing officiated. Burial was held in St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery in Princess Anne, located behind Manokin Presbyterian Church in Princess Anne.
