TORNADO WARNING

205 PM EDT Mon Aug 10 2026

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN GARRETT COUNTY IS

CANCELLED...

The tornadic thunderstorm which prompted the warning has moved out

of the warned area. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for

western Maryland.

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 PM EDT FOR WEST

CENTRAL ALLEGANY COUNTY...

At 205 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado

was located over Lonaconing, or near Westernport, moving east at 35

mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying

debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter.

Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile

homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near...

Bel Air, La Vale, and Lonaconing around 210 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include

Dogwood Flats, Cresaptown, Midland, Reynolds, Barton, Woodland,

Franklin, and Rawlings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest

floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter

and protect yourself from flying debris.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR WEST CENTRAL ALLEGANY COUNTY WILL EXPIRE

AT 215 PM EDT...

The storm which prompted the warning is moving out of the area.

Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, heavy

rain is still possible with this thunderstorm.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement

agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service

Sterling Virginia.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 PM EDT

FOR ALLEGANY...GRANT...MINERAL...NORTHWESTERN HARDY AND CENTRAL

HAMPSHIRE COUNTIES...

At 207 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms with a history of producing wind

damage were located along a line extending from near La Vale to near

Elk Garden to Davis, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to

fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage

homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed

trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured

light objects may become projectiles.

Locations impacted include...

Cumberland, Frostburg, Keyser, Moorefield, Petersburg, Westernport,

Romney, Bel Air, Paw Paw, La Vale, Fort Ashby, Lonaconing, Piedmont,

Elk Garden, Kitzmiller, Ridgeley, Cresaptown, Potomac Park, Wiley

Ford, and Eckhart Mines.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.

At 208 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Berkeley

Springs, or near Hancock, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Hancock, Berkeley Springs, Great Cacapon, Pecktonville, Big Pool,

Little Orleans, Cherry Run, Lineburg, Spohrs Crossroads, Spruce Pine

Hollow, Forest Park, Bellegrove, Berryville, Sleepy Creek, and Shady

Grove.
