EASTON - Maryanna Rebecca Ayers passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.

She was born Aug. 9, 1923 on Harrisville Road in Woolford, daughter of the late Levin and Mary Lee. She was the wife of Leon Ayers.

Mrs. Ayers was raised in Harrisville and attended the public schools in Dorchester County and graduated from F.D. St. Clair High School in the class of 1942.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and later through merger, the New Revived United Methodist church where she held the offices of Communion Stewart, Trustee, Treasurer of the Community Club and member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Bible Study Group.

Mrs. Ayers was an experienced cook and she used her talents to support the church kitchen committees wherever needed.

During her working years, she was a domestic worker, factory worker and served as chief cook for Meyer's Catering Service for more than 30 years.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Gresham; a sister-in-law, Alice Lee; a niece, Vera Lee and nephew, Larry Lee.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Ayers; two sisters, Helen Sprow of Largo and Nona Stanley of Harrisville; three brothers, Jerry Lee of Westbury, N.Y., Levin Lee of Easton and Paul Warner of Hampton, Va.; brothers-in-law, William Sprow and Randolph Stanley and sister-in-law, Lillian Lee. She is also survived by two nieces, Vivian Phillips and Terry Butcher and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, at the New Revived U.M. Church with the Rev. Jerome Tilghman officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Cemetery.

There will be a viewing Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge.
