LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mary Meekins Nutter, 85, died Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2007 in her Little Rock home with family.

She was born Oct. 22nd, 1921, in Lakesville, to Reita Augusta Wallace and Freed King Carroll "Bunch" Meekins.

Widowed in 1997 after 47 years of marriage to Arthur Eugene Nutter, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Lewis and her sister, Jenny Bramble.

She is survived by her children, Richard Nutter and wife, Stephanie of Norco, Calif.; Phoebe Wessinger of Fredericksburg, Va. Her siblings, Bill Meekins and wife, Joyce of Federalsburg and Lois Bocknek of Oceanside, Calif.; grandchildren, Jenifer and Nate Felton, Ricky Nutter, Eliza Wessinger, Zachary Nutter, Katelynn Nutter; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Mika and Will Felton; many nieces, nephews, and friends from all over.

Known as Mom, Nanny, Aunt Mary, Lil' Nutt, she endured numerous hardships throughout her life. She loved good food and was famous for her homemade navy bean soup, chicken and dumplings, sweet potato bread, lasagna, fried chicken, and crab cakes, but raw oysters were her favorite food in the world.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church today in Little Rock, Ark.
