WYE MILLS - Mary M. Turner, 76, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at her home in Wye Mills.
"MAG," as she was affectionately called, was born in Talbot County on Dec. 5, 1930 to John and Louise Harris. For 55 years she was married to Maurice Turner, who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2003. Together they raised six children, a grandson, Sheldon and provided a home for two nephews, Gary and Ted Harris.
She retired from domestic work after many years. MAG was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 29, 1951 and was a faithful member of the Queenstown congregation.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; a brother, Robert Harris and a sister, Beatrice Bowser.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Turner (Deborah) of Denton and Carlton Turner (Deloris) of Queenstown; three daughters, Valarie Copper (Phillip) of Oxford, Irene Pinder of Wilmington, Del. and Alberta Dodd of Cambridge; five brothers, John Harris (Gloria) of Queen Anne's, Charles Harris of Yeadon, Pa., Kenneth Harris (Barbara) of Hurlock, Alfred Harris (Mary) of Bowie and Larry Harris (Anna May) of Queen Anne's; five sisters, Elenora Waters of Queen Anne's, Evelyn DeShields (Herbert) of Easton, Doris Aldridge of Newark, Del., Nancy Williams (Leroy) of New Castle, Del., Edith Green (George) of New Haven, Conn.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 29250 Skipton Landing Road. Brother Lemar Ford Jr. will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
