Mary Fannie Stevens

CAMBRIDGE - Mary Fannie Stevens, 93, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at her home. She was born in Vienna on Oct. 25, 1918, and was a daughter of the late John W. and Sarah Roberson Mowbray. She graduated from Cambridge High School. On Feb. 5, 1940, she married Frederick L. Stevens who passed away on Sept. 20, 1992. Mrs. Stevens was a bookkeeper for Phillips Hardware and Robbins Chemical Company. She enjoyed reading, word searches and gardening. Mrs. Stevens was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Cambridge Lodge #1272 B.P.O.E. ELKs and AARP. She is survived by two sons, Frederick L. Stevens Jr. and wife Deanna of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Franklin M. Stevens and wife Patricia of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Michelle Hart and husband Patrick, and Michael Stevens and wife Lynn; six great- grandchildren, Spencer, Avery and Cadence Stevens, Noah, Ryan and Ethan Hart; a brother, Edward Mowbray of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Dawkins and Margaret Haefner; and six brothers, L. Vernon Mowbray, J. Martin Mowbray, Norman R. Mowbray, Elmer E. Mowbray, Wray W. Mowbray and Calvin W. Mowbray. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge with Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment followed at Christ Churchyard. Family received friends from noon to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
