SALISBURY - Martha Jeanne "Marty" Engler, 86, died Aug. 1, 2016, surrounded by family. Born in Tulsa. Okla., she was the daughter of Clint E. Hart and Johnnie Beale McClaran Hart. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse in Texas, Alabama, Turkey, Canada and Kansas before settling in Salisbury in 1973. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Leo Francis Engler; six children, Kathleen McGrath, Janet Stephens, Chris Cook, Stephen Engler, Pete Engler and Lisa Grabbi; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Eldon Hart and Hardin Hart, and by her stepfather Oscar Ferris. The family will have a private celebration of her life at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
