SALISBURY - Marguerite G. Smith, 88, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the Delmar Villa in Delmar. Born Aug. 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Grace Jones Gordy. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Smith who passed away in 2000; they were married 53 years. She worked for 33 years as an office manager for Prudential Insurance Co. Active in the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for over 70 years. She also was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Fruitland for 66 years. She is survived by her brother, Burton Gordy of Salisbury; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma M. Jones and a brother, John S. Gordy. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment followed at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
