HURLOCK - Margie Marie Richmond, 79, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born June 9, 1928 in Shenandoah, Va., daughter of the late William Jasper Smelser and Rosa Lee Shomo Smelser.

She was a riveter during World War II. She also had been a fur model and an office manager. She was a member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Earl D. Richmond; a son, Nathan Richmond and his wife, Brenda of Dover, Pa.; a daughter, Dawn Smith and her husband, Lou, of Federalsburg; six grandchildren, Louis Smith III, Jason Smith, Krista Richmond, Kyle Richmond, Bradley Smith, Karlie Richmond; three sisters, Evaline Baker of Pennsylvania, Phyllis Jean Bowman of Westminster, Joann Ludwig of Eldersburg; a brother, Walter Leroy Smelser, of Frederick and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three siblings, Frances Harlow, May Caricoffe and Willie Leon Smelser.

Funeral services for her will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Jeanne Kirby officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be on Monday, at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans" Cemetery at 10 a.m.
