Margaret Ann King, 78
TANGIER, VA - Margaret Ann King passed away on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA. Born in King George, VA on February 20th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Griffith Northern Bell and Gertrude Anne (Staples) Bell.
Margaret was known for her strong work ethic, love of animals, and quick-witted humor. She had a passion for crafting and took great pride in her creativity, often selling her embroidery in local gift shops. Margaret had a fondness for sending handwritten notes to the sick and bereaved, and you could count on hers to be the first Christmas card received.
She is survived by her daughter, Trudy K. Pruitt and her husband, Weldon; son, Robert "Bobby" Wilson King, Jr., all of Tangier; two grandchildren, Erin Lee Owens and her husband, Bryant, of Crisfield, MD and Trey Pruitt of Keller, VA; three great-grandchildren, Tucker Pruitt and Clayton and Calvin Lee Owens; sister-in-law, Ethel Bell; several nephews and cousins; and many special neighbors, all of whom became family over the years.
Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Wilson King, Sr.; and brothers, Billy, Irving, and Leonard Bell, and Albert Lucas.
A graveside service was held at the Historyland Memorial Park in King George, VA on Tuesday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted from the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, on Tangier, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA, P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 (www.shorespca.com).
Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
