TRAPPE - Manie M. Bechtel, 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Memorial Hospital at Easton.

She was born at Linkwood on May 16, 1928, and was a daughter of the late James Albert and Addie Sweeney Fitzhugh Andrews.

She attended schools in Dorchester County. On June 15, 1946, she was married to Jesse M. Bechtel. Mr. Bechtel passed away on Oct. 6, 1981.

Some years ago she had worked at the Rob Roy Co. in Cambridge. Mrs. Bechtel loved life, auctions, doll collecting, counting, visiting with family and friends, traveling and playing with her great-grandchildren.

She was taken to the Memorial Hospital at Easton on Monday.

Survivors include six daughters, Addie Bechtel of Allentown, Pa., Barbara Wood of Greensboro, Manie Bechtel of Trappe, Jessie Rinehart of Rockville, Helen Teets of Easton and Kathryn B. Phillips of Seaford, Del. She is also survived by three sons, Erden Bechtel of Rhodesdale, John S. Bechtel of Church Creek and Patrick E. Bechtel of Bethlehem; 20 grandchildren, Larina Miller, Margaretta Hopple, William Hopple, Caroline Stewart, Amy Bechtel, Angela Bechtel, Nicholas Bechtel, Sheila Rowley, Donnie Leslie Rowley, Jessie Rowley, Tonya Colquhoun, Crystal Davenport, Henry Teets, Alexander C. Bechtel, Kitty Kat, Elizabeth Bradley, Jesse Bechtel, Ashley Bechtel, Adam Rippons and Mark Rippons; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Sard and Emma Creighton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, James A. Bechtel; two sisters, Marie Faulkner and Margaret Harrison; three brothers, Monroe Andrews, Medford Andrews and Buddy Andrews and a long time friend, Carroll Brummell.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Derwin Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Bechtel, Henry C. Teets, Jesse James Bechtel, Alexander Bechtel, Erden Bechtel and Henry Teets.
