Mabel Bell Dryden, 80

WAYNESBORO, VA. - Mabel Bell Dryden, formerly of Princess Anne, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, in Augusta Health Center, Fishersville, Va. She was 80. She had been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Danny Hall, of Waynesboro, Va. She was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Crisfield, the daughter of Robert and Vernettia Swift. Mabel was known for her love of cooking and gardening, but in her later years was unable to enjoy her special gifts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Dryden and Thomas Tandy. Surviving are her children, Darlene Swift Hall and her husband Danny, of Waynesboro, Va., and Harold Eugene Tandy of Ramona, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Sheila Dryden Milliner, Sherry Dryden Riggin, both of Crisfield, and Shelly Dryden Wagner of Fenwick Island, Del.; a sister, Frances Johnson; two brothers, Donald Swift and George Swift, all of Crisfield; and four grandchildren, Debra Hall Ashby of Clemmons, N.C., LaDena Hall Knott of Waynesboro, Va., Christina Tandy Hansen, and Michael Tandy of Ramona, Calif. Special thanks is given to the staff of Shenandoah Nursing Home and the wonderful and loving care she received from Augusta Health Center for her final days on this earth. Graveside services were 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Her son-in-law, Danny Hall officiated the service.
