She was born Sept. 5, 1904 in Cambridge, one of eight children born to the late John and Florence Stiles. Mrs. Travers attended school in Dorchester County.

Mrs. Travers moved to Philadelphia, Pa. and worked for a period of time before returning to Cambridge, where she met and married her late husband, James Travers. They were active members of Waugh Chapel UM Church for many years. They adopted their only child Kevin, but sadly James died shortly thereafter.

As an active member of Waugh Chapel UM Church, Lula served as an usher, sang with the Mason Choral Club, The United Methodist Women and the Hot Meals Program.

She was also a member of the Mes Aimes Social and Literary Club and a member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary/Robin Hood Shop.

Lula served both church and community until becoming ill and moved to Philadelphia, PA to live with her niece, Twill King, until her passing.

She is survived by her son, Kevin; a niece, Twill King; a nephew, Eugene Stiles and a number of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held noon on Tuesday, at Waugh Chapel UM Church High St., Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
