COLUMBIA, Md. - Lionel Calvin Gibson, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Columbia, Md. on November 6, 2015. Calvin is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Gibson Dize; several nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his beloved cat, Winnie, on August 8, 2015; his wife, Louise Truitt Gibson in April of 2002; his brother, Klein Franklin Gibson in January of 1990; his mother, Anna Anklam Gibson in April of 1987; and his father, Lionel Calvin Gibson, in October of 1951. Calvin graduated from Crisfield High School and attended both Salisbury State Teachers College and Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. After meeting and marrying Louise, Calvin made his home in Crisfield, Md. For many years he was a faithful member of the Crisfield Kiwanis Club and Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. A memorial service in Calvin's honor has been scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 39 W. Main St., Crisfield, Md. A casual meet and greet will begin at 1 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. A lite fare reception will be held afterwards.
