Linda S. Tyler

ADAMS, N.Y.-Linda S. Tyler of Country View Apts. Adams, NY passed away Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Hospice Residence in Watertown, NY. Mrs. Tyler was born August 19, 1947 in Baltimore to Melvin S. and Thelma E. (Newcomb) Newkirk. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1965, attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. and earned her Associates Degree from Chesapeake Community College in 1988. Most recently she retired as a Registration Specialist at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. She married James F. Tyler, Sr. February 27, 1965 in Church Creek, MD and was married for 37 years. Mrs. Tyler was active in her church, performing duties as youth counselor, pastor's wife, Sunday school teacher, Christian School Educator and was always committed to her community and family. Mrs. Tyler is survived by her five children, James F. Tyler, Jr, Statesboro, GA, John W. Tyler, Adams, NY, Jenny L. Daniels, Springfield, MO, Jason P. Tyler, Laurel, Joel L. Tyler, Laurel, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday January 25, 2015 at the Mannsville United Methodist Church, Rev. Daniel Lincoln officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, Inc. 1398 Gotham, St., Watertown, NY 13601, (315) 788­7323.
