SALISBURY - Leonard Harmon, Sr. died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at his home. Born in Melfa, he was the son of the late Clarence Harmon and India Bailey Harmon. He was a member of Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he was the Father of the Church, Trustee Emeritus, and a former member of the Baptist Jubilee's. He worked in the Housekeeping Department at Deer's Head Hospital Center. He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Harmon; two daughters, Phyllis Harmon and Elder Dr. Patricia Contee; an adopted daughter, Patsy Bateman; one brother, Richard Lindsey; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Leonard Harmon Jr., one daughter, Mary Jean Camphor; and 12 siblings, Edward Harmon, Effie Emma Mapp, James Harmon, Mary Jones, Clarence Harmon, Alberta Brittingham, Daniel Harmon, John Harmon, Ethel Felton, Stanley Harmon, Jonas Harmon and Edna Harris. A funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment was in Green Acres Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
