SALISBURY -- Leon James Phillips, 76, of Salisbury, died on Mar. 3, 2015, at his home surrounded by family. Born on June 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Rosco J. and Alice H. Phillips. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1959. He retired as Assistant Manager from Sears and Roebuck after 34 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as a police officer for the Berlin Police Department. He was a member of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary from 1961-1991. He was also a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He was one of the founding members and a coach of the Salvation Army Youth Shooting Program. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Vivian P. Ball. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nadine H. Phillips; two sons, Michael J. Phillips of Salisbury and Jeffrey L. Phillips of Salisbury; four grandchildren; and several other family members. A funeral service was held Mar. 6, 2015, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial was in Parsons Cemetery.
