CAMBRIDGE - Major Leo Edward Moore, U.S. Army retired, 77, died early Monday morning, Nov. 13, 2006, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury.

Born on Nov. 21, 1928, in Easton, Talbot County, he was the son of the late Wendell and Neva Christopher Moore.

Mr. Moore attended public schools in Easton and graduated in 1945. After graduation he worked for several local contractors in the masonry trade.

On Oct. 4, 1952, he married the former Mary Ann Jones.

In 1962 he entered the U.S. Amy, serving at various stateside posts with foreign tours in Vietnam in 1965 and 1970, as well as a tour in Korea in 1968. While stationed in Rutland, Vt., he received his bachelor's of science degree from College of St. Joseph.

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, 2D Award, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Star and the Combat Infantry Badge.

After military service, Mr. Moore was employed by the Maryland Comptroller of the Treasury until retirement in 1991.

Mr. Moore was a member of the 29th Division Association, Inc. Post 88, Eastern Shore Chapter Maryland Military Officers Association of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7460, American Legion Post 91, Life Member BPOE Lodge 622, Annapolis.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Moore of Cambridge; a sister, Frances Jester of Seaford, Del.; twin sister, Leora Montanaro of Ridley Park, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, Wilmer Moore and his wife, Del and Lester Moore.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday where the family will also receive friends an hour prior to the service at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Doug Ridley, Pastor George Wheatley and the Rev. Ron Meredith. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be George Burton, Bill Press, Bobby Harper, Sonny Wroten, Kenny Barwick, John Sard and Donny Haring.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Ray Jones, Jim Harmon, Don Harmon, Walter Jones, Allen Jones, Jim Smith, Wally Spedden and Gary Jones.

Memorial offerings may be made in Mr. Moore's memory to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge, MD 21613.
