CAMBRIDGE - Lee Ethel Sutton (Mom) passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007.

She was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Wilson, N.C., the daughter of Charlie Carl Sutton and Rachael Barnes.

She spent most of her childhood in Temperanceville, Va., with her brothers and sisters, Earnest, Freddie, William, Harvey, Etta and Loretta.

Ms. Sutton attended Jerusalem Elementary. She worked for Vera Copes in her beauty shop in Temperanceville for seven years.

In 1942 Ms. Sutton and her only daughter, Norna, moved to Cambridge. It was here she met George Efridge Saunders and five sons were born to that union. They were together until his death in January 1963.

Ms. Sutton held numerous occupations, including domestic labor, factory worker, seamstress and beautician.

She is survived by five children: Norna Yvonne Melvin, Jerome Martin Saunders, Timothy Saunders, Unberto Davensceno Saunders and Mark Albenzo Saunders.

She was preceded in death by a son, George Efridge Saunders Jr.

She was a devoted Jehovah"s Witness.
