CAMBRIDGE - Lawrence L. Bolden, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore.
Lawrence was born on July 15, 1939 in Finchville, son of the late Marjorie Bolden-Collins and the late Horace Brooks Jr. He attended Hurlock Elementary School. He graduated from Mace's Lane High School in 1957. Soon after, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served four years and received an honorable discharge.
On July 15, 1958, Lawrence was joined in holy matrimony to Marion L. Pinder. This union produced five sons, Lawrence (Rita) of Virginia Beach, Va., Dino Sr., of Frederick, Marlon, Loren and Troy all of Philadelphia, Pa. and a daughter, Sylvia Purnell of Orlando, Fla.
He moved to Philadelphia in 1962 and worked for the Westinghouse Corp. and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He reared his family in Philadelphia until 2001 when he moved with his wife to Cambridge. He attended Mount Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Cedar Meadows Rod and Gun Club and the American Legion Post 87.
Mr. Bolden enjoyed taking photos, visiting and conversing with neighbors and friends. Reminiscing of the good old days was often the conversation. He enjoyed the Mace's Lane All Class Reunions. His hobbies included watching western movies and crossword puzzles. He found great pleasure in simply sitting on the porch with his cousin, Donald and friends.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his grandchildren, Victoria Dees, Kareemah, Lauren and Youlanda Harris, Aquila and Aneema Wilson all of Philadelphia, Pa., Tawanda Gibbs, Resheeda Bolden and Dino Jr., all of Fredericksburg; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Regina Jenkins and Gwendolyn (Gale) Killette, all of Hurlock and Gloria (Leroy) Smullen of Piscataway, N.J.; four brothers, Reginald of Federalsburg, James (Sandra) of Laurel, Del., Troy and Rodney Brooks, both of Baltimore; a stepmother, Ora Brooks of Baltimore; a mother-in-law, Louise Simmons of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Robin (Jerome) Holt of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers-in-law, Jerome Pinder, Harold (Adline) Simmons and Allen Simmons, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; two aunts, Grace Stanley of Salisbury and Mary Lunsford of Philadelphia, Pa.; an uncle, James Worrell of Cambridge and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
