LAUREL - Laura Mae Shockley died at her home on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late James George Shockley and Gertrude Margaret Shockley. "Aunt Mae" was a mother and friend to countless people over the years. She was a familiar face in the halls of Peninsula Regional Medical Center for 40-plus years, beginning her career in the Women's Ward in 1959. She was described as a true team player and would be known to make everything sparkle clean, especially on 5 East. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, James Howard Shockley of Laurel, James Dewitt Shockley of Salisbury and James George Shockley of Mardela Springs. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine Shockley Sutton of Clyde, N.C, and Maryanne Shockley Tracey of Florence, S.C. A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment will be private.
