Lala M. "Lou" McGrath

FEDERALSBURG - Lala M. "Lou" McGrath, 76, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born in Hillsville, Va., on June 11, 1931, and was a daughter of the late Theodore and Stella Weddle.

Mrs. McGrath attended school in Easton. On Nov. 14, 1952, she married Philip M. McGrath who passed away on July 15, 1994.

She was a cashier manager of several grocery stores which included the Colonial Store which became Big Star then to Meatland then to Food City and then Fresh Pride. At the time of her death, Mrs. McGrath was working for Food Lion in Federalsburg.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Some of her hobbies were reading, horses and bowling.

She is survived by a son, Philip M. McGrath Jr. of Cambridge; a daughter, Arlene Wilson and husband, Wayne of Federalsburg; three grandchildren, Philip M. McGrath III, Joshua McGrath and Whitney Wilson; a sister-in-law, Deanna Brooks and husband, Bobby of Church Creek; a sister, Arlene "Blue Eyes" Hansen of Cambridge; a special aunt and uncle, Jiles and Joyce Alderman of Preston and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue Thomas and two brothers, Jake Weddle and Bill Weddle.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Dorchester Memorial Park.

A visitation will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Philip McGrath III, Joshua McGrath, Mike Keene, Bob Budd, Gary Asplen and John Kramer.
