Kitty Gore Reid, 84
CAMBRIDGE - Kitty Gore Reid, 84, formerly of Reid's Grove, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law on Aireys Road, Cambridge.
Born on Nov. 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Hazel Tall Bramble.
As a young girl Kitty was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge and later transferred her membership to Reid's Grove United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed having her family and friends around her. She had a love for angel figurines, a green thumb with flowers and spending many hours watching the goldfinch and humming birds from her kitchen window. She was known as "Sissy" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Cambridge High School. On April 8, 1942 she married the late Charles B. Gore and moved from Cambridge to Salem.
On March 3, 1978 she married the late Royce H Reid Sr. and moved to Reid's Grove, where she remained until her recent illness.
She is survived by two sons, Charles "Chick" Gore and his wife, Tyann of Aireys, Jerry L. Gore and his wife, Melanie of Orlando, Fla.; several stepchildren, Dennis Reid and wife, Therese of Rhodesdale, Janice Parker and husband, Buddy of Vienna, Barbara Gorski and husband, Joe of East New Market, Ricky Reid and wife, Joyce of Vienna, Ann Gorski and husband, Ted of Rhodesdale, Jeff Reid and wife, Bonnie of Cambridge and David Reid of Delaware; 17 grandchildren, Chad Gore, Shannon Gore, Damon Gore, Danny Gore, Lisa R. Blanchfield, Kathy R. Abt, Amy R. Martin, Denny Reid, Kevin Parker, Jason Parker, Craig Reid, Megan R. Murphy, Sharon G. Foxwell, Jennifer G. Travers, Tricia Reid, J. Daniel Reid and David Reid Jr.; 26 great-grandchildren; four nephews, Chuck Whitten, Harry "Tonto" Hughes, Eddie Gore and Jack Gore; six nieces, Debra I. Ackerman, Nancy G. Thomas, Barbara H. Paugh, Susan H. Burcham, Jeannie M. Sanders and Billie G. Wroten. She is also survived by 19 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews. A special person in her life was Libby Ann H. Nagel.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents and husbands, were a sister, Norma L. Robbins and eight brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Kim Gilson and the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Chad Gore, Shannon Gore, Damon Gore, Denny Reid, Ricky Reid and Craig Reid.
