June Hurley Hess, 85 MARIETTA, Ga. - June Hurley Hess, of Marietta, passed away onTuesday, July 22, 2008. She was 85. A native of Cambridge, Md., Mrs. Hess had been a resident of Marietta for the last three years. She loved spending time with her family, along with her husband of 66 years of marriage. In her earlier years, she was active in the Women's Auxiliary for the Cambridge Elk's, and the Women's Association of the Cambridge Country Club. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hess was known as the desert maker for doctors, family, friends, and many organizations in the Cambridge area. Survivors include her husband, Owen Bradley Hess of Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Greg Lassiter of Marietta; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Walter Travers of Cambridge; granddaughters, Hope Emerson and her husband Brian, and Heidi Garguilo and her husband Frank; great-grandson, Ross Douglas Emerson; step-great-granddaughter, Andrea Weatherford and family; step-great-grandson, Dan Garguilo and family; niece, Donnie Fitzhugh and family of Cambridge, Md.; and nephew, Walter Lee Travers Jr. and family of Cambridge. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Cambridge. Those who wish, may make a contribution to the music ministry at East Cobb United Methodist Church, 2325 Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30062.
