CAMBRIDGE - Joyce A. Elliott, 62, died at her home Monday morning, Jan. 15, 2007.
Born on Dec. 20, 1944, in Annapolis, she was the daughter of the late Carl S. Ward and Isabelle Stallings Ward.
On Jan. 28, 1984, she married George C. Elliott.
For most of Joyce's working life, she was a clerical secretary. She had worked for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Waste Management and the Municipal Utilities Commission - Water Department. She had also worked for the Benedictine Open Community for over 20 years as a relief counselor to adults with disabilities.
Her hobbies included reading, bingo, playing on the computer and watching her favorite show, "Law and Order".
Surviving besides her husband of 23 years, George C. Elliott of Cambridge, is a daughter, Carey Laird and her husband, Forrest of Cambridge; a son, Brian Willey and his wife, Lynn of Greensboro; a stepdaughter, Rosemary Calix of Honduras, South America; three brothers, Carl Ward Jr. of Millersville, Bobby Ward of Severna Park, Jackie Ward of Port Ritchie, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jeff Harris and his companion, Sharon Diaz, Matthew Laird, Zachary Laird, Kristen Willey, Jessica Willey and Clarissa Jada Calix; two great-grandchildren, Dominic Diaz and Jessina Harris; friend Diane Smith of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at The Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, Hurlock.
Pallbearers will be Mike Ward, Forrest Laird, Mike Elliott, Jeff Harris, Matthew Laird and Bill Smith.
