Joseph Roland Pinder

Joseph Roland Pinder CAMBRIDGE - Joseph Roland Pinder was born on Feb. 14, 1943, to the late Roland and Golden Pinder. A native of Dorchester County, he was called home on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Dorchester General Hospital at the age of 65. Joe attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Maces Lane High school class of 1963. For many years, he was employed by Lakes Bus Service as a driver. In addition, he was also employed at Trappe Frozen Foods and Decco, Inc., from which he retired 2003. As a young man, Joe discovered a love of music. He became the keyboardist in a local band and traveled throughout the Maryland and DC area. He continued his love for music as the keyboardist for the Wilson Singers traveling extensively as a musician for King Jesus. Later, he became the minister of music at St. Luke United Methodist Church of Bellevue, where he was a devoted member. Joe truly was an avid musician and especially loved playing music with his friend, Nathaniel Keene. On Jan. 27, 1973, he married the former Rhonda T. Lee, also of Cambridge. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, a brother, a sister, mother and father-in-law, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife of 35 years; three daughters, Yolanda (Ernest), Dawn (Troy), and Alisa Pinder (Steven), all of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, all of Cambridge; three brothers, John Pinder, Leon Pinder (Doris), all of Philadelphia, Russell Pinder (Virginia) of Cambridge; two sisters, Ruth Stanley (Benjamin), and Alverta Cross, all of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Vernay Bolden and Nadine Lee both of Cambridge; and three brothers-in-law, Gregory Lee of Cambridge, Darrin Lee (Tameka) of Bowie, and Laron Elliott (Tamba) of Baltimore. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Refuge Temple Church of God, 800 Robbins St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Interment Thompsontown Cemetery.
