Joseph E. 'Jed' Walter III, 63 MCSHERRYSTOWN, Pa. - Joseph E. "Jed" Walter III, 63, of McSherrystown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Vicky L. (Smith) Walter. Born Feb. 26, 1946, in Cambridge, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph E. Walter II and the late Ella (Barkley) Walter Brandt. Jed previously worked for 38 years as a Juvenile Counselor for the State of Maryland. He was a past president of the Annunciation School Athletic Association in McSherrystown. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Brent E. Walter of Virginia Beach, Va., Erin H. Hostetter and husband Justin of Lancaster, and Barkley M. Walter of the Naval Academy Prep School, Newport, R.I.; and two grandchildren, Gavin Walter, and Nadia Hostetter. Following cremation, friends and relatives were received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown.
