SALISBURY - John William Gordy died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at his home. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Burton "Burt" B. Gordy of Salisbury and the late Nalia White Gordy. A 1974 graduate of James M. Bennett High School, he excelled in baseball and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to his disability, he worked for the city of Salisbury. He is survived by three children, Chad B. Gordy, Josh A. Gordy and Jake W. Gordy, all of Salisbury; two grandchildren; a brother, Chuck Gordy, of Salisbury; and two nieces. A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment followed at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
