EAST NEW MARKET - John Malcolm Brake, 55, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007.
He was born in Cambridge on Jan. 21, 1952 and was a son of the late Paul C. and Eloise Anspach Brake.
John graduated from Cambridge High School in 1970. On Nov. 27, 1982, he was married to the former Donna Osborne. For most of his life he had been self-employed in the logging business. He enjoyed spending time with his children.
John was stricken suddenly at his home and was taken to Dorchester General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Donna J. Brake of East Market; one daughter, Jennifer L. Miller and her husband, Leland D. Miller of East New Market, and one son, Robert J. Brake of East New Market; two brothers, Roger R. Brake and his wife, Mollie Brake of Cambridge, Hamilton J. Brake and his wife, Gloria of Cambridge; one sister, Linda B. Meyers and her husband, Leroy Meyers of Byron, Ill.; two nieces, Lee Everett and Debbie Szczap; one nephew, Paul Meyers; his mother-in-law, Ruby Osborne of Linkwood, and two brothers-in-law, Bill Osborne of Elton, Del. and Richard Osborne and his wife, Susann of Seaford, Del.; one sister-in-law, Debra Voshell and her husband, Charles Voshell of Seaford, Del.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Roger Ross Brake Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Paul C. Meyers and the Rev. D. Larry Wroten officiating. Burial will follow at the East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Charles Voshell, John Wright, Charles Green, Joe Kincaid, Larry Norsworthy and Chad Everett.
