ROCKY MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Joel Lindsay Molock, known as "Peanut," passed away on June 21, 2007, at his home in Rocky Mountain.

He was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Cambridge, son of the late Novella (Molock) Sellers and Joseph Stanley Sr. and raised by his great-grandmother, the late Hester Molock.

Peanut was educated in the public schools in Dorchester County including Mace"s Lane High School in Cambridge. He moved to Baltimore, to live with his mother in 1968, where he was employed at a doughnut company as a baker and delivery carrier for a number of years.

In 1968 he met Carolyn Smith of Baltimore, and they were partners for 15 years. From this union they had two of his three children. In 1970, he was drafted into the Army, where he served 18 months in the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. In 1972, he and his family moved back to Cambridge, where he worked as a longshoreman for seven years.

Later they returned to Baltimore where he started working at Fort Meade for NSA as a driver and delivery carrier. In 1982, he met Mildred Walker and from this union his youngest daughter was born. In 1996, Peanut moved to North Carolina to help take care of his mother, while residing there he met his fiancee, Carlin Hines.

He had a love for racing cars and working on them. He was a seafood lover and enjoyed laying back and listening to his music for hours.

He is survived by three children, Raymond Molock, Keysha Molock and Shameka Molock; a son-in-law, Dion Johnson; three grandchildren, Danielle and Simone Molock and Jasmine Johnson; a great-grandchild; father, Joseph Stanley Sr.; grandmother and stepgrandfather, Thelma and Jasper Morris; three brothers, James Perry, Martin Smith and Joseph Stanley Jr.; four sisters, Novella Newton, Bonnie Brooks, Beverly Chesley and Linda Chester; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Henry Funeral Home, PA., 510 Washington St., Cambridge, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Veterans" Cemetery at Beulah.
