SALISBURY - Joann Grier of Salisbury died at her home on Sept. 18, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, David Alexander Grier; her father, J. Walter Mitchell; her mother Myrna Powell Mitchell; her adoptive mother, Alice Nelson Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Grier Cummins, and a son, Alexander Mitchell Grier; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Her life was one of ministry and service. She was one of the founders of the Christian Shelter and an active member is Providence Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at the Providence Presbyterian Church in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
