UNION BRIDGE, MD/LINCOLN - Joan Swain Shockley died Sat., Feb. 21, 2015 at Shepherd's Glen Assisted Living, near Union Bridge, Md. Born Jan. 20, 1929 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late George Harvey and Iris Ireland Swain. She was the wife of the late Harvey Preston Shockley, who died in 2008. Mrs. Shockley was a graduate of Milford High School. She was formerly employed as an executive secretary with Caulk/Dentsply International in Milford, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church. Before her husband's death, they enjoyed spending winters in Bonita Springs, Fla. Mrs. Shockley also enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her precious granddaughter, Heather. She was predeceased by a brother, George Walter Swain. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Daniel H. and Vickie Shockley of Union Bridge, Md.; and granddaughter, Heather Shockley. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Lincoln Cemetery.
