CRISFIELD - Jennie M. Dryden, 79, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born on Tangier Island April 17, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Ruth Sparrow Crockett. Her husband, Alan H. Dryden, preceded her in death Nov. 26, 2000. She was a homemaker and worked many years at the Carvel Hall gift shop. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Crisfield where she was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. She often hosted Bible Study at her home. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She is survived by two children, Carol Ann Ross and her husband Bob Ross of Pocomoke City and Alan E. Dryden and his wife Karen Crockett Dryden of Crisfield; a grandson, Alan E. "Buddy" Dryden, Jr. of Crisfield; a sister, Rissie Crockett of Staunton, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Floyd and Edward Crockett; and two sisters, Jeanette Crockett Jennings and Ella Marie Crockett. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, Crisfield, where friends called one hour prior. Pastor Tad Maroon officiated. Interment followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1 S. Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.
