PITTSVILLE -- Jennie Edna Lewis, 95, of Pittsville, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Gumboro, she was the daughter of the late George and Maggie Brittingham. She worked for many years as a poultry farmer. She was a member of Friendship UMC in Pittsville and played the piano for many years at Friendship, Mount Pleasant, and Powellville Churches on the Powellville Charge. She is survived by six children, Jean Johnson, Betty Davis, William "Billy" Lewis, Shirley Warrington, Connie Lewis-Young, Peggy Moore; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland C. Lewis in 1968; infant daughter, Gail Lewis; and sister, Mary Elliott. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment was in Lewis Cemetery in Willards.
