James W. Dodson, 90 CRISFIELD - James W. Dodson, of Crisfield and formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Hope Hospice House, Cape Coral, Fla. He was 90. Born in Culpepper, Va., on April 7, 1918, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Lottie Waters Dodson. His wife, Theda D. Dodson, died March 31, 2003. He had been making his home in Fort Myers, Fla., for the past three months. A retired carpenter for the state of Maryland, Mr. Dodson was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both while in Baltimore. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Ellis Dodson. He is survived by six children and their spouses, Beverly and Robert Kepfort, Janice and Anthony Ipavec, and James E. and Beverly Dodson, all of Fort Myers, Gloria and Chris Sappington of Cookeville, Tenn., Stephen and Collette Dodson of Baltimore, and Dennis Dodson of Denver, Colo.; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his special caregiver and friend, Sue Ward of Crisfield; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services and interment with military honors were held in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Cockeysville. The Rev. Robert Daniels officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hope Hospice & Community Services, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909; Lower Somerset County Ambulance & Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, Crisfield, MD 21817; or to Crisfield Fire Department, P.O. Box 591, Crisfield, MD 21817. Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
