James R. Bailey

EASTON - James R. Bailey, passed away on Friday, Sep. 14, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was born on May 15, 1934 in Laurel, Del., the son of the late Alfred J. Bailey and Grace Dickerson Bailey. After serving in the United States Navy, he worked as a salesman for the former Cope's Candy Company in Sharptown, Md. On June 20, 1959 he married the former Janet Hopkins. James was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock, the U.S. Navy Cruiser Sailors Association and the U.S.S. Northhampton Reunion Association. He is survived by his wife, Janet Hopkins Bailey of Preston; a daughter, Susan B. Ortega and her husband John of Rhodesdale; a granddaughter, Danielle Murphy and her husband Daniel of Salisbury; a grandson, Matthew Ortega and his wife Chelsea of Hurlock; (an adopted) granddaughter, Jade English of Rhodesdale; and an aunt, Ruth Murray of Salisbury. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Robert Bridner officiating. Interment will follow at the Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
