CAMBRIDGE - J. Donald Hill Sr., 75, of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Cambridge on Jan. 9, 1936, and was a son of the late John Willie Hill and Mildred Cannon Hill. He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1954. He served in the Army National Guard from 1955 to 1961. On April 23, 1965, he married the former Margaret Mills. Mr. Hill was a long distance truck driver for Wheatley Trucking, Todd Transport and Crown Cork and Seal until he retired in 1998. He was an avid bowler in his younger days, loved playing pool and playing cards every Friday night with his buddies in Hudson. He also loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the Association of Maryland Bow Hunters and a member of Cambridge Lodge #1272, B.P.O.E. Elks. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Hill of Cambridge; a son, J. D. Hill, Jr. of Cambridge; and a daughter, Donna Abbott and husband James of Crapo; three grandchildren, Jenna Ashley Abbott of Avon Lake, Ohio, Amanda Hillary Abbott of Salisbury, and Jordan Danielle Hill of Cambridge; a sister, Janet James and husband Goldsborough, Jr. of Cambridge; and a good friend, Allen Keene. Pallbearers will be David Satterfield, Clark Elzey, Radcliffe Wheatley, Donnie Simmons, Wayne McCarter and Randy White. A funeral service was 2 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David J. Wooten, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Spedden Seward Cemetery.
