PRINCESS ANNE — The unique and colorful paintings of Lorraine Hudson are hung around the world and soon will be in Princess Anne.
“Art Under The Trees” will provide a natural setting for the vibrant paintings. The show will be Saturday, June 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Linden Hill, 11923 Somerset Avenue and admission is $3 or a tax-deductible contribution to the Linden Hill Legacy Foundation. Parking is across the street at the County Office Complex.
Ms. Hudson describes her work as “Spiritual Expressionism.” “My paintings are done in a mixture of acrylics, oils, watercolor, auto paint, dyes, emulsions, essential fragrance oils, sand, even dirt — anything I am guided to use when creating them. I sometimes use brushes, knives and believe it or not, my feet! Many are created on plexiglass so the light can shine through. All are dimensional and are treated so they can be touched. Even the blind and children can enjoy them.”
The artist is also a composer and the Eastern Shore Majorette Dancers will perform to her original musical compositions at 2 and 4. The artwork will available for sale by sealed bid auction with minimum bids posted for each piece. The winners will be announced at 4:45.
Jeanne du Nord, who is staging the event said, “I am imagining some of those large paintings hanging in the Great Walnut with the light shining through them, the 22 dancers in their rainbow-painted costumes whirling through the topiaries and boxwood garden maze. I am planning for it to be an event to live in memories.”
