Inmate who drove off from work assignment captured

WESTOVER —An inmate from Queen Anne’s County being held at the Somerset County Detention Center and part of a work crew at the Westover landfill drove off in county pickup truck Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16, and was apprehended two days later by the State Police in Centreville.

William Clyde Conley was charged Dec. 19 with escape, motor vehicle theft and theft scheme and held without bond. The vehicle was also recovered.

In Queen Anne’s County Conley was convicted of second degree assault. His preliminary hearing in Somerset County District Court is set for Jan. 22.
