ALLEN - Howard Milton Adkins Sr. died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born in Delmar, he was the son of the late Walter Adkins and Emma Catherine Haddock Adkins Bromley. He worked for many years at Burnett-White and General Tire in Salisbury, then had a 33-year career at Crown, Cork and Seal in Fruitland as a master mechanic. After retiring, he worked part time for Riverside Pharmacy as a delivery driver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Adkins. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Elizabeth Powell Adkins; eight children, Howard Adkins Jr., Ray Adkins, Penny Cullen, Linda Burnell, Kim Threet, Anna Insley, Hunter Adkins and Sean Adkins; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Adkins of Delmar and Phillip Adkins of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Wednesday at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. A committal service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Allen Cemetery.
