PRINCESS ANNE — The Somerset County Health Department in partnership with Princess Anne Police Department will host “Hot Dogs in the Park” in recognition of Governor Larry Hogan declaring the week of Sunday, August 30 to Saturday, September 5, “Overdose Awareness Week” in Maryland.

The governor's declaration will be read to build upon the momentum already in place for International Awareness Day on August 31 and September as National Recovery Month.

Last year, 858 Maryland residents died due to alcohol or drug intoxication. Overdose Awareness Week will be recognized across the state to raise awareness of the drug overdose epidemic and to motivate change. The purpose is to spread the message that overdose deaths are preventable, to remember and commemorate those people who have been lost or injured due to overdose and to acknowledge the grief felt by the families and friends impacted by overdoses due to drugs and alcohol.

Somerset County Health Department, Princess Anne Police Department, local health officials, all people who live and work in Somerset County, including media, are welcome to attend.
