Hospital's star again a memorial to State Trooper Eddie Plank

SALISBURY — On Nov. 28, Peninsula Regional Medical Center will again dedicate the holiday star atop the medical center in memory of Maryland State Police Trooper First Class Edward A. Plank Jr. He lost his life in the line of duty in 1995 on U.S. 13 south of Princess Anne, and since then PRMC has been dedicating the star each year in his honor.

The unique star, measuring 22 feet from tip to tip, will remain lit throughout the holiday season. It has been the centerpiece of PRMC’s holiday decorating theme for the past 20 years and it also serves as a tribute to the medical center’s close working relationship with local emergency responders and law enforcement officers on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Trooper Plank was from Princess Anne, and his parents Ed and Sandy Plank and sister Kelly P. Dize survive him.

“Peninsula Regional would like to ask all residents to take a moment during this holiday season to thank our local emergency responders, law enforcement officers and our friends and family serving in the military and to remember our heroes — like Trooper Plank — who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our safety,” a PRMC spokesperson stated.25ct Eddie Plank PRMC Star
