DELMAR - Hollis L. Jones, Sr. died Friday, April 13, 2018, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late John Jones and Amanda Arvey. He retired from National Vault in Salisbury after more than 30 years. He was a member of the Delmar Wesleyan Church and the Delmar Fire Department. After his retirement, he continued to serve the community as a crossing guard at Delmar High School. He is survived by his children, John Jones, Hollis Jones, Sally Ferro and Tammy Jones; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, George Alexander and Woody Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Delores Anne Jones; a sister, Carrie Lemon; and a brother, Elmer Alexander. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment followed in Bivalve United Methodist Church Cemetery.
