Herman Henry Twigg, 88

FISHING CREEK - Herman Henry Twigg, 88, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.

He was born July 10, 1919 on Hoopers Island son of Stephen Mathias Twigg and Della (Lewis) Twigg.

Herman served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate. He retired from the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. in York, Pa.

Mr. Twigg was a lifetime member of Christ United Methodist Church in Yoe, Pa. where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Hosier Memorial Church in Fishing Creek where he also taught Sunday School and a member of the Brookview United Methodist Church in Brookview.

Herman had a lifelong love of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and enjoyed singing and playing his mandolin and guitar in church.

He is survived by a son, David N. Twigg and his wife, Eileen of Fishing Creek; a daughter, Teresa A. Twigg of York, Pa.; three grandchildren, David M. Twigg II of Red Lion, Pa., Stephen M. Twigg of Fishing Creek and Shane Twigg of California, Md. and one great-granddaughter, Alexis M. Twigg of Red Lion.

Mr. Twigg was preceded in death by his wife, Lillybelle A. Twigg; a son, Stephen T. Twigg; and a brother, George W. Twigg of Pasadena.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Austin Eberly Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Dallastown, Pa. 17313. The family will receive visitors from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday. Burial will follow in the Yoe Cemetery.
