MARDELA SPRINGS - Harriet Arlene Jones Foxwell died Friday, July 13, 2018, at UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester in Cambridge. Born in Mardela Springs, her parents were the late Granville and Pauline Bailey Jones. She graduated from Mardela High School in 1956 and then worked for The Prudential Insurance Co. for nearly 40 years, serving as the Office Manager in the Salisbury Office. After retiring, she worked as a school bus aide to children with special needs. An active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, she served as Treasurer for more than 60 years. She was an avid cook and prepared dumplings for the Mardela Fire Department chicken and dumpling dinners for more than 50 years, often making more than 100 pounds of dough for each dinner. She won the Delmarva Chicken Cooking Contest as a teenager. She published two cookbooks as fundraisers for her church. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, W. Gerald Foxwell; two sisters, Sandra Saulsbury of Mardela Springs and Kay Gambrill of Hebron; her son, Brice Foxwell of Westminster, Md.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces. A funeral service was held Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment was at Mardela Springs Cemetery.
