Grant will cover bird conservation and restoration series on Delmarva Peninsula

Posted

DOVER — The Eastern Shore Land Conservancy and Lower Shore Land Trust have partnered for an educational series with assistance from the Cornell Land Trust Small Grant Program.

The $5,000 grant will be used to develop a six-part series focused on various bird conservation and restoration practices across the Delmarva Peninsula and how existing conservation easement landowners can implement these practices.

The Delmarva Peninsula is home to a wide variety of habitats, many of which are critical to the ecosystem, but has seen a decline in species variety, particularly in birds, according to a news release.

Programming will include bird-banding demonstrations and birding walks, along with other trainings to increase awareness of the challenges being faced by birds and actions that can be taken to counter them. The series will be geared toward land trust members and volunteers, as well as interested members of the community.

More information is available on the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy Facebook page or by calling 240-608-5743 or 410-690-4603.
