WESTOVER — Somerset County Recreation and Parks is having its eight annual “Golf for Youth” Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 17 at Great Hope Golf Course. All proceeds for this tournament will benefit the youth recreational programs of Somerset County Recreation and Parks.

The tournament this year is being renamed for Donnie Price, who died this past May. A former employee and retired educator with Somerset County Public Schools, he spent many years working to better the lives of youth through sports and recreational activities.

“It is in this way that we choose to remember our dear friend and co-worker through giving children the opportunity to participate in our recreational programs,” said Clint Sterling, department director.

The cost to participate is $65 per person or $35 for Great Hope members and county employees. The four-person scramble format begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and lunch is at 1:30 p.m. followed by awards to include closest to the pin and longest drive. There also will be raffle and door prizes.

The Recreation and Parks department is now partnering with sponsors willing to contribute $25 (Bronze), $50 (Silver), $75 (Gold) or $100 (Platinum) to the tournament for the prizes, and there are other donor levels for advertising as well. For more on that call 410-651-4980.
